Faculty in the Human Development Program encourage our students to seek academic advising early, often, and regularly throughout their tenure as an HD major to ensure they stay on track to graduate. We are committed to providing an exceptional advising experience for all of our majors, but this requires students to come to their advising appointment prepared (i.e., with forms completed and supporting documents in hand). On the Advising Forms & Videos page you will find useful advising material, including links to common forms and video guides to filling them out. Emails sent to HD advisors or the coordinator should include your full name and SSU ID number.

Need help reading your ARR, finding a GE course, or have other general advising questions? Vanessa Bascherini is the Academic Advisor for the School of Social Science. Scroll to the bottom of this page to learn more about how she can help you!

Wanting to Declare HD?

If you are a student who is interested in declaring Human Development as your major, please review the information on the Application Instructions and Deadlines page. If, after reviewing this information, you still have questions about the HD application process, you are encouraged to meet with the HD Coordinator, but please run a What-if Report with Human Development as your major first. Please note, however, that the HD advisors and the coordinator do not do academic advising for non-HD majors. Advising of non-HD majors is limited to answering questions about the HD application process and prerequisites.
